Phiri Vs Chiwendre- Complex fight to be “The Guvner!”

On Saturday Catherine Phiri from Zambia will fight for the interim super bantamweight title of the World Boxing Council against Kudakwashe Chiwendre from Zimbabwe, at the Government Complex in Lusaka, Zambia.

Phiri (16-4-0, 10Ko’s) will step into the ring for the first time since 2019, when she lost to Kenya’s Fatuma Zarika in the WBC bantamweight title fight in Nairobi.

Chiwendre (4-2-1, 4 KO’s), comes from a draw in Zimbabwe against Patience Mastara, in May of last year.

This Friday, both passed the official weigh-in of the evening without any problem. Phiri weighed 121.4 pounds, while Chiwendre registered 120 pounds.
